Our mission is to provide an exceptional and evolving multi-family office environment for our families, our employees, our business partners, and our community.

We strive to build and maintain a reputation for:

  • Consistent superior risk-adjusted performance
  • Exceptional client service
  • The highest possible ethical standards

The characteristics of the Galapagos tortoise reflect our firm’s culture. The Galapagos tortoise is steady, methodical, long-lasting, and grows to be of material size. Its strong shell protects it during tough periods just as a well-designed portfolio endures a hostile environment.

We aim to provide an exceptional multi-family office environment for each of our stakeholders:

  • Our Families

  • For a select group of families, we focus on multi-generational objectives that allows them to achieve their personal and financial goals. We aim to exceed our clients’ expectations every day.

  • Our Employees

  • We provide a stable, collegial boutique environment where service oriented people with exceptional talent can achieve their personal and professional goals.

  • Our Business Partners

  • We strive to be a trusted and responsive partner to our various business relationships.

  • Our Community

  • We seek to be a highly regarded member of the community and strive to contribute and give back in an effort to make our community strong and sustainable.

Long-term success for our families requires long-term success for our employees, our greatest asset. We are highly motivated, talented professionals who aim to deliver excellent service to our clients. We are passionate about maintaining a team-oriented, collaborative culture where our team members can continuously learn, grow, and thrive. Because Galapagos is an independent, privately owned firm, our team is both stable and focused on the priorities of each individual client relationship. Our low client-to-staff ratio ensures a high degree of individual service and confidentiality.

Galapagos Partners’ origins stretch back to thirty years when Stephen Lack transitioned a now 85-year-old multi-generational family business with origins in auto aftermarket products and services, into the Lack family office.  Approximately ten years later, Stephen became an outsourced Chief Investment Officer for a significant Houston family with a range of diverse issues.

Similar requests followed from other friends and families. This led Stephen to further evolve the business by creating a separate legal entity with the goal of becoming a full service multi-family office serving a small group of leading Houston-based families.  Today, Galapagos Partners, L. P. is a limited partnership organized under the laws of the State of Texas and is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Registered Investment Advisor.

Galapagos Partners has deep ties to Houston. Our single Houston presence allows us to deliver our services personally. Private ownership allows us to retain our client focus and manage their investments for long-term, multigenerational growth. Our local presence, network and reputation are complimented by strong Wall Street and global money manager relationships. We are a boutique practice with institutional firm talent.
